In line with the monthly Theme in the rotary calendar March was Rotary literacy month, The Rotaract club of Limuru was successful in organizing a book collection campaign dubbed ROTAREAD CAMPAIGN 2014 whose main objective was to promote basic education in the community we come from ie Lari and Limuru where most of our membership is drawn from. We therefore decided to visit two children centers (targeting the less fortunate in the society). Our target was to collect Old and new textbooks, Exercise books, pens, pencils and any other writing material as provided.

  1. Alpha Joy Children Center in Ndeiya, Limuru where we managed to donate 250 books, pens, pencils as well as other writing materials.
  2. St Edwin Children Centre in Kimende, Lari where we donated over 180 books, pens, pencils as well as other writing materials, this was a very successful campaign owing to the commitment on the side of members as well as friends of rotaract . It’s my hope that this initiative will be done three times in a year to get as many children as possible on board.
